Agnes Ramirez has been the receptionist at Hillyer, Jones since the doors opened ten years ago. Dominican by birth, she's lived in New York for forty years -- though she still wires money to her aged mother in Santo Domingo every week. Agnes knows where all the bodies are buried -- and by whom. A plump, friendly-faced widow of a certain age with ginger-colored hair, sensible shoes, and horn-rimmed glasses hanging from a chain around her neck, Agnes has two grown children, a condo in White Plains, and a need to gossip that's so strong it has to come from a gene. It's practically in her job description: she sees -- and tells -- all. Coffee, anyone?
