Inspector Montague, the Scotland Yard detective assigned to the Meg Townsend case, is an Englishman of another era. Think tea cozies, worn tweed jackets, smoked-eel sandwiches & digestive biscuits. He's a workaday bloke -- not exactly Sherlock Holmes, but persistent. His biggest hurdle in the Meg Townsend case is that he actually likes Jim Hillyer -- at the moment the only concrete suspect in the supermodel's disappearance. Montague shares a semi-detached beige-brick house in the north London borough of Maida Vale with Fiona, his Irish-born wife of 28 years, and an insanely vicious Lakeland terrier named Mountbatten. The Montagues' only child, a daughter, is an attending pathologist at Florence Nightingale Hospital ... a handy connection for the Inspector to have when trying to interpret forensic autopsy results.
