No ransom notes have been received, no demands made. The only clues to date in the disappearance of Meg Townsend are the continuing series of agonisingly short phone calls from an unidentified male voice hinting -- but never stating -- that he has abducted Meg Townsend or is in some way involved in her disappearance.

Inspector Ian Montague, overseeing the investigation, expressed his frustration with the anonymous caller.

"It's one of the strangest things I've ever seen in a case like this. Whoever this chap is, we don't know what he wants -- "
