[SUICIDE HINTED IN BEAUTY'S VANISHING, SAY POLICE
]

In an exclusive interview with the LONDON SUN & NEWS OF THE WORLD, a purportedly close friend of model Meg Townsend hinted today at possible psychological problems from which the international glamour-girl may have been suffering.

"Trust me, she was this close to cracking," announced the Milan-based runway model known as Angelique, holding her manicured right thumb and index finger approximately an inch apart. Angelique -- whom the LONDON SUN & NEWS OF THE WORLD's research staff has identified as the former Suzanne Negroni of Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA -- has been a colleague of Townsend's for the past five years.

"The pressure! You have no idea!" said Ms. Negroni, speaking of the hardships of life as a top model.

[ ] "I mean, gain two pounds and it's club soda and melba toast for, like, a month!" While conceding that that wasn't exactly Bosnia, Negroni explained that Townsend had repeatedly shown signs of stress in recent weeks: throwing hysterical fits, breaking down in tears and peeling off her nail polish just hours after a manicure.

"And this guy she was dating," Negroni continued. "Such mind games he was playing with her! I mean, he was responsible for her success, she fell in love with him, he was married, they tried to break up, he still controlled her career, yadda yadda yadda... I've seen it a hundred times. It's always the girl who ends up flipping out."

Has Meg Townsend, in fact, "flipped out"? As yet, no body or suicide note have been recovered, and police have refused to comment. [ ]
