Despite being officially cleared by police of any involvement in the now-presumed abduction of Meg Townsend, Nicholas Hammond -- the unemployed southeast London loner initially fingered by Scotland Yard as a suspect because of his bizarre obsession with the supermodel -- continues to stir interest in those fixed on understanding this baffling disappearance.
This LONDON SUN & NEWS OF THE WORLD reporter dogged Hammond as he left the Spar supermarket on Brockley Road in New Cross Gate last evening, carrying a load of groceries to a beat-up orange-coloured Mini parked curbside. Repeatedly shouting, "Leave me alone! P--- off, you swill mongers!" -- an appelation not unknown to this reporter--

Hammond angrily denied any involvement, while dodging questions about his known fascination with Townsend, his elaborate fantasy life in which Townsend has been a major character, and his feelings about the landlady in this dreary London suburb who, it has been revealed, initially turned him in to police.
At one point becoming incensed enough to throw a tin of baked beans at the LONDON SUN & NEWS OF THE WORLD's photographer, Hammond, clearly unbalanced, vowed to "get even" with those members of the media who refused to stop trailing him.
